Sister Akiko Sudo, Mother Treasa in Haiti

Sister Akiko Sudo, an 83-year-old nun and medical doctor who spent nearly 30 years working in Haiti, where a magnitude 7.0 quake devastated much  on Jan. 12,2010.  She has spent the past three decades treating Haitian tuberculosis patients.

Longtime confusion by coup d'etat and economic sanctions by the United Nations,most of people has been poverty;unemployment rate 70%.  Sis Sudo was not going to leave Haiti, even a government used car for sanatorium staff was attacked. Under the unstable political situation ,  a riot and plunder were repeated in the town, and most foreigners escaped abroad.  
"I'll do everything I can to help Haitian people rebuild their homes and work on farms to increase the food supply, and lend your hand to Haiti longer period" she said . She decided to devote her rest of life to Haitians. 

By the big earthquake, 220,000people dead  and 750,000 children suffered from it.  More than 4,700,000,000 yen contribution to UNICEF Japan for Haiti earthquake. On return Haitian children send messages to Tohoku earthquake refugees.
